Dental injuries while playing sports are easily prevented by wearing a sports guard.

A Sportsguard or a mouth guard or a mouth protectors is a rubbery guard custom fit to your child’s teeth that, when worn, will protect teeth from impact.

We recommend for most contact and non-contact sports such as hockey, soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, martial arts, skiing and skateboarding and biking to name a few.

They fit the upper teeth and prevent damage to their teeth, lips, jaws, etc. Sports guards are recommended for people of all ages where any injury can be anticipated.

The American Dental Association, Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine, Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, Canadian Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy for Sports Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry , American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Public Health Association has recommended the use of protective mouth guards since 1990’s.

Custom-fabricated mouthguards, particularly the pressure-laminated type (which is the only type of sports guard we recommend), appear to provide a number of benefits over other mouthguards including the ability to adjust the thickness, extended to the last tooth in the mouth and establish a proper bite to balance the impact and prevent uneven force distribution on a single tooth or a few teeth.
