Children can get gum disease too!
Bleeding and sensitive gums can be a sign that your child’s brushing and flossing is not optimal. Vigorous or hard brushing can also lead to bleeding gums through injury of the tissues.
Assist your child with brushing and flossing until he/she is old enough to do it by themselves.
Bleeding gums can sometimes happen around a developing permanent tooth as it tries to push through the gum and erupt into the mouth.
When you notice any blood in the saliva of your child we recommend you bring them in for an assessment to understand the cause and start treatment early if necessary.
